Holiday (2006) I only wanted to watch this because of Jack Black and Kate Winslet. I liked their relationship better than Jude Law and Cameron Diaz. They seemed more matched than Law and Diaz. And Winslet and Black seemed more real. It's to bad this movie couldn't just have them. And let Law and Diaz go make their own movie.

Charlotte's Web (2006) This was a beautifully made movie of a beloved childhood book. You can see there was a lot of love put into this movie. The CGI animals were just seamless. Dakota and the rest of the non-voice actors were very good also. But it was animals and of course Charlotte the spider that really made this movie. By the end of the movie I was crying. So make sure you have a hankie near by.

Dark Kingdom: The Dragon King (Special Edition) (2005) I had to think about this one. This movie was base on an old Nordic story. A young boy of royalty is whisked to safety due to an overthrow of his kingdom. He raised by a blacksmith, who found the child. Of course he doesn't know he is a king. He meets a beautiful women, who he finds out that she is a queen. The story is a basic tale of love, honor and betrayal. This was a highly rated miniseries for Germany TV. The problem is they took the mini and chopped it up to make a 2 hour plus movie. When you look at the extras you can see that they took out a lot. This would have been better if they would have left it a multi disk set. As a movie is was disjointed at times hard to fallow. The acting for the most part was very good. The special effects where pretty good for being a TV mini. Pity they chopped it up.

Off the Black (2006) A wonderful little Indie film with Nick Nolte, Timothy Hutton and Trevor Morgen.It's a story about an unlikely bond between a teenager and an ailing older man.It is a slow moving movie. Which takes it's time. I thought Nick Nolte was really great here. It's been awhile since he has been in anything. Timothy Hutton wasn't in it all that much. But he did really well. And new up and coming Trevor Morgan did very well with these top notched actors.I wasn't sure I was going to like this movie. I came away well satisfied.

Friends With Money (2006) I really loved this movie. I like these types of movies. I thought Jennifer Aniston did a wonderful job here. I know she gets a lot of bad mouthing for her acting. What little I have seen her in, I think she is pretty good. The only thing I would say that I found was a bit of a turn off was Frances McDormand roll. I felt she was too sour. I know that was the point. I just felt it was too over the top. But other than that. The rest of the actors were great. Well worth the watch.

But I found the side characters more interesting. The three chatty mom's, the retired cop and the sex offender and his mother. This movie really should have focused on them. They seemed to have more of a story to tell. But we only get a minor brush with them. All in all the movie was good.

Good Year
I didn't think this movie was that bad. It is nice to see Russell Crowe do something light and a bit of fun. It wasn't as funny as they were hoping it would be. I would say it was cute little movie about wine and romance. In the beautiful countryside of France.
I would say it is worth a rental or at lest cable.

Staring Ed Burns, Jay Mohr, Donal Logue, John Leguizamo, and Matthew Lillard.I think the one person that stood out for me in this movie was Matthew Lillard. I have seen him in other movies. I never was impressed with him. But here he really shown. He played more stable and level headed. Kind of the anchor of the group. Which is different from his other rolls.Not sure what town this movie was made in. But it was sure a pretty place.If you haven't seen this little gem. Do so. I think you'll enjoy it.

Pursuit of Happyness (2006) Will Smith seems to get better and better. He did really well. And his son was just plain cute. It is a story about a single father trying to a go of it as a stock broker. But it is more than that. It is reaching for the American Dream. Well acted all around. I think for me the most emotional, was the bathroom scene. It was just so powerful. If you haven't seen this movie. Do rent it or see on cable. You will not be disappointed.

Both have been in some of my favorite movies.Here they play life long friends who are dinner theater singers. After witnessing a mob hit. They high tail it to LA. To blend in. It's not a laugh out loud funny movie. I guess what I enjoyed about it most is Vardalos and Coliette do all their own singing. And they have great voices.Check your brains at the door and enjoy.

So he had to go out and get himself a real job. The job he ends up with is a job as "The Librarian". But it not just any ordinary librarian job. I guess it pays to have 22 degrees.It was an okay movie. Nothing that really stands out.

Lucky # Slevin (2006) I really liked this movie. I just loved the twisty-turny of the plot. I loved the whole look of this film. That wallpaper was really wild. And it just made the movie more edgy. I thought all the actors were just great. Lucy Liu and Josh Hartnett were just great together. They just seemed to click. Which made their characters work. And lets not forget Sir Ben Kingsley and Morgan Freeman. I just loved the scene when they were together. Talk about a one-two punch! I am glad I finally got to see it. If you haven't seen this movie, do so. I think you'll like it.

It's a story about an American man who gets kicked out of Harvard and goes to England to visit his sister. While there he befriends his brother-in-law's brother who is part of a football firm. It is violent with strong language. And full of male testosterone.I love how it was shot and the total look of this movie. In a washed out color. Which gave it a mood. Even thou there was a lots of blood. It seemed to tone it down. Kind of an arty feel to it.I'm glad I watched it.

But it is still a sweet, funny little film.I never get tired of watching it.

And it left our two heroes the smartest people in the world.It's a funny look at where were are heading. I really enjoyed this movie. Despite it's humor it also makes you think about what's happening today and you can see us heading down this road. Lets hope not.

V For Vendetta (2005) Wow! What a powerful movie. It held me from start to finish. Hugo Weaving was great as V. Natalie Portmen once again did an outstanding job as Evey. It was thought provoking. Even thou it was base on a graphic novel back in the 80's. It can hold truths for today or for tomorrow. This movie reminded me of the Nazis and what they did. And how easily it can happen again if we put to much power in our leaders hands and trust they will take care of us. Just like sheep with a Shepard. The trouble is that Shepard could be a wolf who's waiting until we are to fat and happy to pay attention that he is sneaking up for a bite.I am so glad I was finally able to see it.

Proposition (2006) This is a wonderfully made movie. You just feel the heat, dirt and those godawful flies! The cinematogaphy was just plain beautiful. The look and feel of Australia during the 1800's was there.The actors were all great. I would say the only thing is it was very slow moving movie. But at the same time you got to savor the good, bad and ugly of this movie. And cruelty that men inflicted on each other was sickening. I often wonder how we became ahead of the food chain. I guess dumb luck.If you haven't seen this movie, I encourage you to. Let me know what you think.

Shooting Livien (2004) I wanted to watch this movie because Dominic Monaghan was in it. After seeing him in Lords Of The Rings movies, I want to see him in other things. This movie is interesting. Not sure if I fully absorbed it yet. It is basically about a rock band and it's lead singer/writer. And John Lennon. The band in on the brink of stardom and the lead singer has issues. The music is really good. And would love to have the CD. Not only does it stars Dominic Monaghan, there is Jason Behr, Joshua Leonard, Sarah Wynter and Ally Sheedy. I would say the whole cast was great. It was just a little odd film. Check it out and tell me what you think.

It was still fun to watch.Kinky Boots is loosely base on a true story about a shoe factory in Northampton, England. The father and owner of the shoe factory dies and leave it to his son who really didn't want anything to do with it. To his shock the factory is going under and he has to lay off some workers. But he knows this isn't going to be enough. Good sense would tell him to sell it and get married. While in London he came upon a women getting harassed by some men. It turns out that was no lady. But a cross dresser name Lola/Simon. They form a friendship and a plan to get the factory back on it's feet.Like I said very predictable. But still a good movie.

And a cast of historical characters and some wild life.Story is about a night watchman in a museum and the mummy's curse. Almost sounds something from an old Marx Brothers movie.I really enjoyed it. And for the most part Ben Stiller did a great job. I have only enjoyed some of his movies. He played this a little more low keyed. And it was nice to see Van Dyke and Rooney. They look pretty good for old guys.And see if you can spot Ben Stiller's mother. I know he like to put his parents in his movies.Check it out!

If you have seen Love Actually, another well made movie from England, and you enjoyed that one. You will enjoy this one. What I loved about this movie was the multicultural interactions. It wasn't about race or hatred. It was simply about people. This was about how no matter what part of the world your in, we are all the same. And have the same problems.I advise you to take a look at this film. It drags a bit. But that is forgivable.My understand that they had a hard time getting it here in America because the studios wanted American actors. And they felt it would loose what made this film what it is. An African movie about Africa. I am glad they took the high road and waited. It was worth it.

I know I will most likely get a lot of hate in my comments section. But I have to say I like this newer version more than Reeves and Kidder version. The newer seemed darker and less campy. Routh's Clark Kent was more subdued. And Bosworth's Lois Lane was solid. Where Kidder was irritating. And couldn't see the charm in her. I can see Routh's Superman falling for Bosworth's Lois.I am looking forward to Superman Returns II.

I have to say I liked him in this one much better. Even his love interest, Sarah Jessica Parker was pretty good also. But the actors I have to say for me that I thought was so funny and very watchable was Zooey Deschanel, Justin Bartha, Bradly Cooper, Terry Bradshaw and Kathy Bates.They for me really made this movie. McConaughey and Parker were just window dressing. But they were likable widow dressings.If you want some fluff, this is a good movie to watch.

I never thought he was funny. And surprise he is still getting work. But for some reason he wasn't half bad. I have never liked David Spade. Another one I keep wondering why is still getting work. For some reason his hair suits him. Jon Heder is okay in his roll. Nothing really to say about him. He seems to play these types in other movies.This is movie is just like any movie of this type. A bunch of losers overcoming the bullies and hard asses in this world.I think the kids or childish adult will like this movie. But for me........turn me off, I'm done.

Depp still doing his funny walking pirate, Jack Sparrow. Orlando Bloom is back with our hero, Will Turner. And Keira Knightley as Will's love in life, Elizabeth Swann. A lot of new faces were added to the mix. I really liked Bill Nighy's character. I hope they bring him back in POTC 3.I will be buying this for my collection.

And why do people with ugly legs wear them?..............Sorry that's the wrong story. This movie is about The Bermuda Triangle. And how a rich man who keeps loosing his ships to this non-short wearing triangle. So he gets together a group consisting of a weather expert, an ocean expert, a psychic and a journalist. So it takes them 3 shows to figure it out.As a TV program I thought it was very good. And all the actors did quite well.It is a cheesy movie. Just drink it will a glass of wine and your good to go.

I Love Your Work (2005) I had to give some thought on this movie. I think it was trying to get into the mind of this guy's mind, while he was having a melt-down. And maybe that is why I had a hard time with it. At first I was going to give it a 7/10. The more I thought about it the more I really didn't like it.Maybe if it was given to another director (Adam Goldberg) and writer, could have been better. Maybe they need to see The Snake Pit. A very good movie about mental breakdown. Maybe even A Beautiful Mind (Which Goldberg stared in).It had a all star cast......Giovanni Rabisi, Jason Lee, Vince Vaughn, Christina Ricci and Joshua Jackson.Even Elvis Costello. I was hopping for better.

Da Vinci Code (2006) I never read the book this movie is based on. But I did hear all the stink about it. Why are some people afraid of this movie? If you have faith in God. Then showing this movie shouldn't affect you. I could never understand the uproar about Harry Potter. Well any way back to the movie.The move was hard to fallow at first. I soon got into it after awhile. There was some major plot holes. And lots of questions. Maybe the book filled them in. I am not sure if Tom Hanks was good for the lead. He seemed boring. I loved Audrey Tatou. She's such a good actress. And and my favorite Frenchie, Jean Reno. There's just something about him. I just love watching him.Other than that. The movie was so-so.

It was just a bunch of whinny rich people bed hopping, lying and cheating behind each other's back. Something you can see every afternoon on TV. It's call a Soap Opera. Not sure why so many people liked this movie. Maybe because it was a Woody Allen film. And I not a big Woody fan. Never really could get into his stuff. So maybe that is why I had trouble with it. He star's here as a bitter man who hate's a pub owner. The movie is base on a Chinese short story. But told in a very Irish way. Wonderful dark comedy. Chillan Murphy and Adrian Dunbar also star in this movie. If you can get a chance to see it do so. Bitter Harvest is an American title. The real title is called "How Harry Became a Tree."

It starts Tommy Lee Jones and Berry Pepper.It's about a Texas rancher (Tommy Lee Jones) who befriends a border crossing Mexican by the name of Melquiades Estrada. Who is accidentally killed by border patrol, played by Berry Pepper. And their journey to Mexico to bury Melquiades.The movie is long and slow in parts. And could have been shorten. And there was some parts that didn't make sense to me. But all in all it was a good movie. And Tommy Lee Jones is always fun to watch.Check it out. And tell me what you think.

Junebug (2005) I wanted to love Junebug and wound up just barely liking it. Besides for a couple performances, the film just left me cold. First, a few of the characters were not developed very well. It was hard for me to become emotionally engaged with these people because most of them were either two faced or bland. For example, George was portrayed as this nice guy that everyone loved but I found him to be kind of dull. He hardly ever spoke and I just couldn't understand his appeal to other people. I understood why his family liked him but why did the rest of the community like him? It didn't make a whole lot of sense. He also seemed to be a little two faced. For the majority of the film, it didn't seem like he was bothered by his family despite the usual negative stereotypes that accompany that location. However after his departure, he was glad to finally leave. The character seemed to go in a bunch of different directions without much thought.The only two characters I liked were Madeline and Ashley. You will either love Ashley or hate her. I found her enthusiastic personality to be contagious and she was very likable. It was very hard to watch when she was at the hospital and asking God out loud why he would let this terrible thing happen. That was probably the film's strongest and most memorable scene.There are some strong parts of this movie. But they are few and far between. It should have been some back history. To many questions and no real answers.

It's about one Marine's journey to Desert Storm and back. The acting and the visual of this movie was really good. I take my hat off to director Sam Mendes. Well done!Jake Gyllenhaal and Peter Saarsard were out standing!Even thou Jamie Foxx didn't have a lot of face time. Was suited for this role.Amazing movie.
